Association across FTP

When I go to an FTP site with text files thats houdl be associated with FRP, it does make the association but when I double click the file instead of adding directly into FRP liek with local files it opens in IE. Is there a way to have it open in FRP as it does locally?

I don't think you can, it looks like this is hard coded into Internet Explorer.

Its a shame as it would have been extremely useful.
